On the 12 July 2014, WAYO were joined once more by Maestro Vladimir Verbitsky for our international conductor season, celebrating Shakespeare’s 450th birthday. The music reflected the Bard’s passionate tales of betrayal, love and revenge as portrayed by three of Russia’s most famous composers.

After a week of dedicated rehearsals and instruction from Maestro Verbitsky, the orchestra excelled in the challenging repertoire which included:

TCHAIKOVSKY, Romeo & Juliet Overture-Fantasy
SHOSTAKOVICH, Music from Hamlet
PROKOFIEV, Romeo & Juliet Suite (excerpts)
